Letter from the Editors

TEN YEARS OF ELECTRIC SPEC

It's hard to believe our humble magazine has been in production for ten years. We are now one of the longest lived spec fiction magazines on the internet-and one of the most respected. Over the years, many fans and authors have told us Electric Spec is known across the country-and internationally-for its high quality fiction and features; and we do it all for free. We've resisted the temptation of advertising because we believe in our format and we don't want to clutter it with ads. For the editors, this is always been a labor of love, and we hope to continue with a for a long time to come.

Continuing in our ten year tradition, we've got some great stories lined up for 2015. Science fiction fans will love George Walker's "Museum Man" where the past clashes with the future of war. Speaking of museums, Jason Sturner's "Potawatomi Island" features a museum employee who gets more than he bargained for when he goes out to collect some specimens. Also in the urban fantasy realm we have Gwendolyn Kate's "Once Lost, Gone Forever," which shows coming-of-age can be tough even for teens with a magical ability. A more traditional fantasy, "When Next the Rains Come" by Peri L. Fletcher, is also a magic filled coming-of-age story. For those who don't understand just how stimulating a good cup of coffee can be, we bring you "Capital Coffee" by Charles Payseur. In the Editor's Corner, our own Betsy Dornbusch brings us the dark fantasy "Last of a Caste." Finally, for our interview we feature science fiction author Rebecca S. W. Bates.
